BENIGHTED
BENIGHTED - To be overcome by darkness.
Synopsis - May 1940, Sergeant Albert Kent (41) and his beleaguered squad are retreating to Abbeville. Corporal Pony Moore (22) begins to question Kent's decisions instigating a schism of leadership. Whilst both are insisting that their right, German forces draw closer.
More 19 year-olds were killed than any other age during World War Two. We wanted to make a film that explored the psychology of these young lads who were sent to war burdened with the liberty of Europe.
Our story came from reading countless accounts of British soldiers during the fall of France in 1940, and how completely unprepared they were, running out of food, ammunition, morale and most importantly, time.

Britain was considering making peace with Germany and ending the war. It made us think, how would you feel as one of those soldiers? Why fight if “peace” was around the corner?
